It’s officially winter on the east coast. Like the – we’ve had our first snow fall, temperatures in the teens, windy and blustery kind of winter. Now, I’m not complaining, I love living in an area that has seasons. When winter comes it means I get to layer up with cozy sweaters and wrap myself in a blanket scarf where ever I go. There’s really nothing prettier than when the world is covered in a fresh coat of snow. But, with winter comes short days and long nights that leave me craving the sun and dreaming of the beach. I’ve rounded up five of my favorite hair and skin products that keep me feeling (and smelling) summery even on the coldest January days.
I have to let you in on a little secret; I’ve never had my hair highlighted or dyed. I’m not against it, I think I’m just freaked out that I’ll end up not liking it – or I’ll like it too much and end up paying lots of $$$ to keep it up. That’s why I love this lightening spray by John Frieda. I’m lucky enough to have hair that naturally lightens in the summer sun so during the winter months this spray is key to giving me the sunkissed hair I’m looking for.
Following the lightening spray I like to mist on this citrus oil to give any natural highlights an extra boost. The combination of citrus and coconut oil also helps to de-tangle my hair for easy brushing.
This hair and body spray is the key to beachy waves. You can use it on damp or dry hair and it even doubles as a body mist! I’ve found that spraying it on dry hair I’ve already curled gives it that ocean air texture. Then I finger the curls out so they are a bit looser and messy to complete the beach hair look.
This skin salve will solve all of your winter dry skin worries. I mainly use this on my lips and cuticles and always carry it with me (as you can see by the shape this tube is in). Honestly, if I could bath in this stuff I would. The coconut scent will have you dreaming of summer. (Sadly, this is currently out of stock but if you visit their website you can sign up to be emailed when they’re back. And while you’re there you should check out the Brow Boy, it will change your life one brow at a time.)
I love this moisturizer because of how light and quick drying it is. I hate when I’m lathering on a lotion and I end up feeling sticky waiting for it to absorb. Skin Trip moisturizer is non greasy and a little goes a long way. And the scent! If you can’t tell I’m loving anything coconut right now and this has the ideal, subtle coconut fragrance.
