I’ve never questioned where my knack to create things came from. Growing up my mom made all of my Halloween costumes, if something was broken my dad would fix it and our homemade gingerbread house parties were a hit with all of my friends. It was no different when it came to decorating the house for Christmas.
Each year my parents continue to dedicate one weekend in December to decorating the house. My dad will start a fire in the backyard and turn on Christmas music loud enough for the neighbors to hear, while my mom starts the coffee and pulls out all of the supplies. Then they get started on wrapping the front porch in fresh garland, tying together swags made of holly and greens, and creating their signature window boxes.
Unfortunately this year I wasn’t able to make it home to help them – Erick and I were busy picking out our own tree and starting new traditions (you can read more about that here), but luckily I was able to snag a few pictures.
The holly tree in their front yard comes in handy this time of year! A few clippings of holly are layered with white branches and fresh greens for the perfect swag to hang on the front door and back gate.
Thanks, mom and dad, for spreading the Christmas cheer!
Enjoy!
