Velvet Hair Bow DIY_Twine And Braids

I can’t believe it’s been, embarrassingly, two months since I last blogged – but I feel like I have a good excuse!  Time is flying by over here and our days have been spent working, house hunting, and training our puppy.  We’re trying to get these big things done before our baby arrives in July.  Yep, baby!  If you haven’t been following along on Instagram, you may have missed this exciting announcement so let me get you up to speed.  We’re expecting our first baby this July and around the same time we found out I was pregnant we got our puppy, Ranger.  A new puppy during my first trimester may not have been our best move (lol!).  But things are moving along; Ranger finished his puppy training, I’m not quite as exhausted as I was during the beginning of my pregnancy, and we’re beginning to focus on the fun baby prep – like deciding on a name!

Now, last announcement, we found out we’re having a girl and I may be a little too excited about the possibility of wearing matching hair bows with her.  Velvet hair ties are super cute right now and they’re also super easy to make.  The below DIY will show you how to make velvet hair ties two ways with a just quick trip to the craft store plus using some items you probably already have at home.

What you’ll need:

With the thinner ribbon, I cut about a 10 inch strip and knotted it to an elastic, that’s it!  Once you have it knotted you can trim it down if you’d like.  You can also seal the ends with clear nail polish to keep it from fraying.velvet hair tie_twine and braidsvelvet hair tie_twine and braidsWith the thicker ribbon, I first made a bow then I secured it to the elastic using a small piece of the thinner ribbon.  So easy!

So cute! Now this is me giving you fair warning that more baby and puppy posts will be in your future. I’m thinking I’ll start with homemade dog treats and progress to homemade baby food? Sounds about right.

Enjoy!
