Easy no sew bunny ear DIY headband for kids! I first whipped up a pair of these ears for Paige last year with whatever fabric and material I had laying around. I loved how they came out and was even more surprised that she kept them on her head while hunting for eggs! After finding this cute spring fabric at Walmart I knew I needed to make her a new pair this year. Fingers crossed she wears them for more than 3 minutes!
Supplies
- Scissors
- Sponge Brush
- Sharpie/Pen
- Floral Wire
- Glue (I prefer Tacky Glue)
- Plastic Headband
- Paper/Cardstock
- Fabric
- Fabric Washi Tape
Preparations
- Using the cardstock, draw and cut out two bunny ears. Once cut, trace them onto your fabric four times and cut them out. You’ll need a total of four fabric bunny ears, front and back for each.
- Next cut two pieces of your floral wire. Amount needed will vary based on how big your ears are, I need a little over 12 inches each.
- Form and shape them into the size and shape of your ears, twisting at the bottom and leaving excess wire. This excess will be needed later.
- Using your foam brush, spread glue onto the inside of two fabric ears. Lay the wire on the glue and top with the second piece of fabric. You now have your two ears ready to go, set them aside and allow to dry.
- While they dry take your headband (I grabbed this one from the Target Dollar Spot) and begin wrapping with your fabric washi tape. There are lots of great fabric tape options on Etsy, like this one or this one. You can also use regular washi tape or if you headband is already the color you’d like, you can leave as is and skip this step.
- Once you’ve covered your headband and the ears are dry, take the excess wire at the bottom of each ear and and wrap them around the headband. I just eyeballed the placement.
- Once secure I used more tape to cover the wire eliminating any sharp edges. Lastly, the ears should be pliable, so you can play around and bend them into the shape you’d like!
